Will Batt (2)

I am a senior undergraduate student at College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, ME. While my interests span a broad range of disciplines, I have become increasingly interested in the field of phytoremediation; using plants to clean up or stabilize toxic environments. For the past couple years, I have been working on a revegetation plan for the Callahan Mine of Brooksville, ME; a 61 ha site that underwent industrial mining for zinc and copper from 1964-1972. I am in the process of completing a potting experiment testing two native species growing in unamended mine soil and two levels of lime-amended soil. I hope to use the data received from this project to work with Ella Samuel, a junior, on a field trial at Callahan Mine and propose an ecologically responsible revegetation plan to the EPA.

My CV is here.
